The Book & Process

What exactly is the "Main Character" Memoir? It is a custom, hardcover biography of your pet. We take the photo you upload and use a blend of custom digital artistry and watercolor techniques to turn them into the star of a classic storybook. We also write a personalized narrative based on the personality traits you select.

Will it look exactly like my photo? Think of your photo as the inspiration, not a photocopy. Our artists use your image as a reference to capture your pet's "essence"—their ears, their markings, and their vibe. However, because this is a hand-painted style illustration, it is an artistic interpretation. It will not be a 100% photorealistic replica. Your dog is the muse for a new character in a storybook world!

Can I see a preview before it prints? Yes. We want to make sure you love it.

  1. After you order, our artists create your memoir.

  2. We email you a digital proof to review.

  3. You can approve it immediately, or request one round of edits if we missed a major detail (like a missing spot).

  4. Note: Because this is stylized art, we cannot make structural changes (like "turn the head slightly") once the art is generated.

Can I get the book in another language? Yes! We believe every pet's story should be told in the language of their home. We currently write and print memoirs in:

  • English

  • Spanish

  • French

  • German

  • Italian

  • Portuguese

  • Polish

  • Japanese

  • Vietnamese

Simply select your preferred language from the dropdown menu when you build your book.

Photos & Guidelines

What kind of photo works best? The best photos are taken in natural daylight (no flash) at eye level with your pet.

  • Good: Sitting or standing, facing the camera or slightly to the side. Clear view of face and chest.

  • Bad: Blurry, dark, or zoomed out so far the dog is a tiny dot.

  • Tip: If you can see their eye color clearly, it’s a great photo!

Can I include humans or multiple pets? Currently, each memoir is dedicated to one single pet to ensure the story stays focused on them. We do not include humans in the illustrations to keep the "storybook" feel authentic.

Does it work for cats/other animals? Yes! While we are "Fable & Fur," we love all pets. The process works beautifully for cats, rabbits, and even horses.

Shipping & Orders

How long does it take to get my book? Because this is a custom-made product, good things take a little time.

  • Design & Approval: 1–3 Business Days (depending on how fast you approve the proof!).

  • Printing: 3–4 Business Days.

  • Shipping: 5–7 Business Days.

  • Total: Most pups receive their book about 2 weeks after ordering.

Where do you ship? We currently ship to the United States, Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia.

My tracking says "Delivered" but I can't find it. Please check with neighbors or your building manager first! If it still hasn't turned up after 24 hours, email us at support@fablefur.com and we will help track it down.

Returns & Mistakes

What if I don't like the book? Since we send a preview for your approval before printing, this is rarely an issue! However, we still offer a Happiness Guarantee:

  • Damaged in Transit? Send us a photo, and we will send a replacement free of charge.

  • Printing Error? If there is a glitch we both missed, we will fix it.

  • Just not happy? Email us. We are a small team of real people, and we want to make it right.

Can I cancel my order? Our artists start working on your book almost immediately. If you need to cancel, please email us within 2 hours of ordering. Once the design process has started, a cancellation fee may apply to cover the artist's time.
